Cosmetic PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)
Regenerative Cellular Technology
Natural Anti-Ageing and Regenerative Medicine
For those who are seeking a more natural approach to anti-ageing procedures, PRP therapy is the ultimate regenerative treatment. The therapy uses your own cells so it is completely safe and natural.
Cosmetic PRP Skin Rejuvenation is an innovative procedure that has been scientifically proven to tone and tighten skin by repairing the elasticity, colour and quality of the skin. The improvement in collagen and overall skin health helps to minimise wrinkles and scarring producing a refreshed look.
What is PRP?
Platelet Rich Plasma is an extract of your own blood that contains a high concentration of platelets, growth factors, and active proteins essential for tissue regeneration and healing. It has been used by doctors for many years to accelerate surgical healing, repair tendons, ligaments and joint damage, heal skin wounds and help regrow muscle and bone. The same physiological process that aids healing in other areas of the body occurs when PRP is used to improve skin health.
Why use PRP for skin rejuvenation?
When the PRP is injected into the skin, the platelets release growth factors, which instruct other cells in the body on what work has to be done (eg make new collagen). Collagen is what gives skin a youthful appearance but as we age, collagen is produced less and less, causing wrinkles and fine lines in the skin. Therapies such as PRP therapy that stimulate collagen production can counteract this sign of ageing.
What are the PRP Benefits?
The potential benefits of PRP have led to widespread interest in its use for anti-aging and aesthetic purposes. Published scientific research in PRP has stated that it can:
- improve the overall health, tone and elasticity of the skin
- Reduce shallow wrinkles and lines
- Minimise appearance of scars
- Minimise the visible signs of aged and sun damaged skin
- Promote more even skin tone and texture
Where can be PRP be used?
The healing properties of PRP can be used as a cosmetic treatment for the following on the face, neck, décolletage:
- Fine lines, wrinkles and other facial creases
- Crow’s feet, under eye dark circles and hollows
- Acne scarring and other superficial scars
- Other sun damaged areas
- Stretch marks – abdomen, thighs, buttocks
When will I see results?
Immediately after the procedure, the injected area will feel tighter, and lines/wrinkles will appear minimised. This degree of tightening will not last, and will return more to normal after 4 days. However the PRP will be working under the skin to make new cells and improve the subsurface layers of the skin. This is not an immediate process and the more pronounced effects can be seen 6 weeks after the procedure, and most patients report the improvements lasting for 1-2 years.
It is important to note that PRP cannot provide the immediate short-term effect of fillers or muscle relaxants. However PRP will hopefully provide you with a more youthful overall complexion that has a longer term benefit as it is improving skin health.
How often should it be performed?
Published research and our Doctors’ results have shown that the best results are achieved by a series of 3 injections at 4 or 6 week intervals initially and then yearly thereafter.
